This notice explains what kind of information we collect, how we use it, and when we may disclose it to others. If you give us permission to collect or use personally identifiable information from your child and we make any material changes in how we plan to use that information, we will notify you of this change and require that you give us permission for these new uses.

What is Personally Identifiable Information?

"Personally identifiable information" is information that identifies a person or allows a person to be located. Examples of personally identifiable information include a name, a home address, an e-mail address, a telephone number, or a Social Security number.

When Do We Collect Personally Identifiable Information from Your Child?

We collect personally identifiable information from your child when your child registers on our website.

Whenever our website collects personally identifiable information about your child, the page contains a reminder that children must have their parents' permission in connection with providing an answer to any questions asked on the page.

On our home page and on other pages on our website, your child can click on a link to register on our website. This registration is not required to visit our website.

In our Mail Room, your child can send us an e-mail with his or her comments on topics we have selected. We may post your child's answer to a question, but if we do, we first remove any information that would personally identify your child. For example, we may list a response from "Amy," but we will not include her last name or e-mail address.

When your child wants to buy a product offered on our website, we also collect the personally identifiable information necessary for the transaction such as name, address, and credit card information.

In other places on our website, we may ask you to provide information to us to review products, participate in contests, join our official online Fan Club, subscribe to our eNewsletter or create an eCard.

What Kind of Information Do We Collect from Your Child?

The personally identifiable information we request from your child may include name, postal and e-mail address, age, gender, number of siblings, favorite games, fashion preferences, reading preferences, and other information including, without limitation, information about your child's favorite celebrities, movies, songs and hobbies.

In addition, if your child elects to purchase products online, we request credit card information to process the order.

We also may collect other information your child sends us by e-mail to our Mail Room, such as your child's comments on topics we have selected.

What Do We Do With the Personally Identifiable Information We Collect?

We gather, store and archive the information we collect from our website.

We may use the personally identifiable information we collect from your child for various purposes including: marketing and research analysis; product service and development; promotion and advertising; fulfillment of a requested transaction (i.e. sale of a product, delivery of a catalog); record keeping; marketing back to your child; and billing and customizing the website to individual visitors. We also may use the information to develop an individual profile of your child, or a profile of certain groups of visitors to our website or for contacting your child about our products, promotions, surveys, or new developments or events. If you do not want your child to be contacted about these products and promotions, you can let us know at any time. See the "Can You Delete or Edit or Update Personally Identifiable Information?" section below.

Should any child's parent not respond within ninety days thereafter, then we will delete that child's and his/her parent's information at that time.

We may collect your child's name and online contact information in order to respond on a one-time basis to a specific request from your child (i.e. upon request from the child, we may e-mail to the child information about our website). After responding the child's name and information will be deleted. Any unsolicited email received will first be screened to determine if he/she is a prior registrant under this policy; if not a message will be sent back to the sender that advises that we will not respond until the sender is properly registered on mary-kateandashley.com pursuant to this policy.

We may collect your child's and parent's name and online contact information in order to respond directly more than once to a specific request of the child (i.e. to provide an online magazine subscription, or a contest entry and subsequent award), but in these cases the child must first be registered with us on mary-kateandashley.com as required under this policy before we will respond.
